Configuring AtlasBits

  1. Install the plugin according to the instructions .
  2. Log into your Jira and go to the Administration section by clicking on "Administration" in the page header.
  3. Click on "Custom Fields" from the "Issue Fields" section in the left navigation bar.
  4. Click on "Add Custom Field" and select "Issue Ordering". Then click on "Next".
  5. Enter a field name ("Rank", "Order", etc.) and a description. Choose the issue types and contexts to apply this field to. then click on "Finish". Note that it is recommended to apply the field to all issue types and to the global context, otherwise you might get unexpected results because you might have issue lists with some issues that can be ordered, and some that can't.
  6. Associate the field with the screens you want to display the order number on. If you don't want to display this number (after all, it's not particularily interesting), just don't select any screen. Finish by clicking on "Update".
  7. In the Administration Section select "Navigator Columns" from the "Issue Fields" section on the left. Add your new field to the default issue navigator fields using the "Add New Column" pull down. You can also reorder the colums here.

Using AtlasBits

When viewing a filter that includes the Issue Ordering field, you have to sort by that field in order to shift the ordering. You can move an issue to a particular row by typing the row number in the entry field and pressing "Enter". If you e.g. want the last item on the list to move to the 3rd row, just type "3" into the field and hit "Enter".
